Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the course fee?
The course fee is $350.
What does the fee cover?
The course includes eight weekly classes, an individual interview with the instructor, a Saturday retreat, the book Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat-Zinn, four mp3s, and handouts.
I already have a copy of the book. Can I receive a reduced fee?
If you already have a copy of the book, please deduct $15 from the course fee. Please be sure it is the 2013 revised edition.
Do you offer any discounts?
A total discounted price of $625 is available when two members of the same household register.
Are payment plans available?
Payment plans can be initiated at checkout. Installments of two or four automated monthly payments are available. Please contact the Center for details.
Are scholarships available?
Limited need-based support is available. Please contact the Center to discuss.
What if I miss a class?
Attendance at all class meetings is strongly encouraged. If you know in advance you will have an absence, please contact the instructor. If you anticipate having to miss more than two classes, it is best to wait to enroll in a future session.
What if I need to withdraw from the course?
Withdrawals from the course after the first class will receive a refund of 75% of the course fee (excluding the materials fee); after the second class, 50%; after the third class, 25%. No refunds will be made after the fourth class.
Is Zoom participation available?
The spring, summer, and fall sessions are held in-person only at 652 17th Ave NE in Minneapolis. The winter session (January–March) is held entirely via Zoom.
How long is the Saturday retreat?
The retreat begins at 9:00 a.m. and lasts until 3:00 p.m.
How do I obtain the 27 CEUs?
At the end of the course, participants can request a Certificate of Completion which can be submitted to your professional licensing board. Consult with your professional licensing board for details.
Who is the instructor?
Michael O'Neal is a Guiding Teacher of Compassionate Ocean Zen Center in Minneapolis. He studied with Dainin Katagiri Roshi and Thich Nhat Hanh and completed a training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MSBR) for professionals with Jon Kabat-Zinn. Michael is an ordained Buddhist priest and has been offering this program since 1994.
